Cineflix Rights goes Under Thin Ice at MIPCOM
Cineflix Rights, the UK’s largest independent TV content distributor, has acquired blue chip nature documentary Under Thin Ice from Galafilm Inc., Mario Cyr Productions, and CBC/Radio-Canada.
Under Thin Ice (1×90/1×60’) follows internationally recognised cold-water diving expert and cinematographer, Mario Cyr and Jill Heinerth as they explore the impact of the disappearance of the Arctic ice pack. Both Jill and Mario are dedicated to doing what they can to ensure the survival of marine life threatened by the ice’s disappearance. In this stunningly shot 4K documentary, they embark on a daring expedition to the polar seas in the Great Canadian North and Greenland to share their amazement and concerns in a passionate testimony to the splendour of underwater life at the ends of the Earth.
Anthony Kimble, SVP, Co-Production and North American Acquisitions, Cineflix, said: “Under Thin Icefeatures breathtaking cinematography and access to marine life from a part of the world which very few of us will ever experience. It’s a striking, blue chip documentary blending science and natural history—a genre that is in demand with broadcasters and platforms worldwide.”
Under Thin Ice producer Arnie Gelbart added: “Galafilm and CBC/Radio Canada are proud to present this unique production, with its amazing images of the High Arctic as it is radically changed by the extreme weather affecting the whole world.”
The deal to acquire Under Thin Ice was brokered by Giuliana Benvenuto, Acquisitions Manager, North America, Cineflix Rights.
