New British Crime Drama Series ‘Marcella’ to be Available Globally on Netflix
(4th April 2016 – London) Netflix, the world’s leading Internet television network, has acquired the exclusive worldwide streaming rights to ‘Marcella’, the new crime drama series from ‘The Bridge’ writer Hans Rosenfeldt.
‘Marcella’, which features an internationally renowned cast, including Anna Friel (‘Limitless’), Laura Carmichael (‘Downton Abbey’), Nicholas Pinnock (‘Fortitude’), Sinéad Cusack (‘Jekyll & Hyde’) and Harry Lloyd (‘Game of Thrones’), will premiere on April 4th in the UK on ITV and will be available globally, outside of the UK and Ireland, on Netflix beginning July 1st.
The series, produced by Buccaneer Media for ITV, delves into the psychology of a troubled detective investigating a serial murder case. It was filmed in and around London and co-created by Hans Rosenfeldt and Nicola Larder (‘The Tunnel’), executive-produced by Buccaneer Media’s Tony Wood and directed by Charles Martin (‘Being Human’, ‘Skins’, ‘The Returned’), Jonathan Teplitzky (‘Broadchurch’, ‘Burning Man’, ‘The Railway Man’) and Henrik Georgsson (‘The Bridge’, ‘Wallander’).
The agreement was struck by Cineflix Rights, the sales and distribution division of Cineflix Media Inc., which holds exclusive international distribution rights to ‘Marcella’.
