Senior Director Scripted Development

The Role
Cineflix Productions is currently looking for an experienced candidate with a strong background in high volume MOW / TV Movie development to fill the role of Senior Director of Scripted Development (SDSD).
Reporting to the Vice President, Scripted, Cineflix Productions (VP), the SDSD will be responsible for helping grow and manage Cineflix Productions slate of tv and streamer movies, with an emphasis on network relations and pitching projects, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the development team. This is a full-time position, ideally based in our Toronto, Ontario office, however we are accepting applications Canada-wide.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Cineflix Productions’ original development of scripted projects – with a principal focus on original TV movies / features at a high volume.
- Work closely with the VP to increase the slate of projects with existing network partners and expand to new networks in North America and internationally.
- Manage all aspects of the development process including, story IP sourcing and research, talent relationships, shaping the creative, overseeing decks, and providing notes on scripts.
- Develop content across multiple genres, including true crime, holiday, romance, horror, thriller etc.
- Help set and manage deadlines in accordance with the slate pipeline.
- Work with writers and agents across multiple genres to help source material and manage the development process.
- Convey Cineflix Productions’ scripted strategy to key industry players such as agents, creatives, industry executives and network and streamer commissioning executives.
- Participate in internal status reports, business, and greenlight meetings pertaining to the Cineflix Productions development slate.
- Other duties as assigned by the VP.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of scripted creative development experience with a production company or broadcaster.
- Experienced in high-volume MOW/TV Movie development
- Knowledge and experience across multiple genres, including true crime, holiday, romance, horror, thriller etc.
- Experience in identifying original scripted programming for various outlets (cable, streaming, premium).
- Proven experience and working relationships with networks (U.S. and Canada)
- Relationships with agents, writers, content creators.
- A risk-taking mind-set: Must be open to thinking outside of traditional formats and broadcast models.
- Excellent writing and communications skills.
- Highly motivated with an ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Great ability to establish contacts and open doors.
- Ability to travel on an “as needed basis”.
