MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights closes multiple deals for upcoming Darkly Comedic Crime Drama Sunny Nights
Eight-part Stan Original series stars Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden
Cineflix Rights has announced multiple international deals for the upcoming eight-part darkly comedic crime drama Sunny Nights, directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Colin from Accounts,Hacks, No Activity, Population 11).
The series has been bought by Bell Media for its English and French services in Canada, Pro-Sieben (Germany), Canal+ (Netherlands), TVNZ (New Zealand), TG4 (Ireland), and Yes (Israel). The latest sales follow ITV’s recent acquisition of the series and come ahead of its highly anticipated premiere on Stan on Boxing Day (December 26).
Sunny Nights stars Will Forte (The Four Seasons, Last Man on Earth, Bodkin) as strait-laced American Martin Marvin, who teams up with his loose cannon sister, Vicki, played by D’Arcy Carden (Nobody Wants This, The Good Place,Barry), to set up a spray tan business in Sydney. But as Martin and Vicki attempt to turn their company from a start-up operating out of the back of a van into a multi-million-dollar empire, the siblings become tangled up in Sydney’s criminal underworld, and when a ruthless gangster begins to catch up with them, the two must figure out how to stay alive, out of prison, and in the black.
Supporting cast members include Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok, Heartbreak High, Foundation), Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door, The Artful Dodger, Ladies in Black), Miritana Hughes (Wakefield, Preacher), Ra Chapman (White Fever, Wentworth), Megan Wilding (Gold Diggers, Mystery Road: Origin), and a special appearance from Patrick Brammall (Colin From Accounts, No Activity, The Letdown).

The deals with Bell Media were brokered by Stephanie Coon, VP, Sales, North America, and Sabrina Ayala, Sales Consultant, Iberia, Italy, French-speaking Europe and French Canada. The deal with Canal+ was brokered by Lucy Rawson, VP, Sales, Benelux, CEE, and Southern Mediterranean; the deal with TG4was brokered by Sandra Piha, SVP Sales, Pan-Regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia; the deal with TVNZ was brokered by Chris Bluett, SVP, Sales, Asia Pacific; and the deals with Pro-Siegen and Yes were brokered by Rod Molinare, SVP, Sales, Africa, Middle East, and German-speaking Europe.
Sunny Nights is a Stan Original series from Jungle Entertainment (No Activity, Mr. Inbetween) and Echo Lake Entertainment (The Great) in association with Cineflix Rights (The Walsh Sisters, So Long, Marianne, Virdee) with major production investment from Stan and Screen Australia, and financed with support from Screen NSW through the Made in NSW Fund. The series is directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Colin from Accounts, Hacks, No Activity,Population 11) and is created and written by Nick Keetch (Almost Paradise) and Ty Freer (High Fire, Almost Paradise), with writers Marieke Hardy, Lally Katz, Clare Sladden, and Niki Aken. Stan executive producers are Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie. Cineflix Rights’ Tom Misselbrook is executive producer alongside James Durie, Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden.
