MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights signs distribution and development deal with Rock Oyster Media

October 10, 2024

Cineflix Rights has closed a deal with Plymouth-based indie Rock Oyster Media to secure 32 hours of food and travel content produced for the BBC and ITV, expanding on a successful partnership which has seen multiple international sales on previous titles.

The deal covers distribution of four new series, including one for the BBC yet to be announced, together with a development deal designed to create new projects with global appeal.

Jimmy & Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast (11×60, ITV1, UK’) follows the UK’s favourite farmer Jimmy Doherty and renowned chef Shivi Ramoutar as they welcome celebrity guests, try their hand at useful arts and crafts, and whip up tasty dishes and drinks for just about every occasion.

Dermot’s Taste of Ireland (5×60’, for ITV1, UK) follows the TV and radio presenter as he ventures back to his family’s home country on a gastronomic tour to discover its delicious secrets. Exploring Ireland’s ancient landscapes and diverse cities, stunning coastlines, and charming villages, Dermot discovers the homegrown flavours and international influences of the real Ireland.

Jason Atherton’s Dubai Dishes (Season 2, 10×60’ for ITV1) joins the Michelin-starred chef on a gastronomic tour of the famous Middle Eastern city whose 13,000 restaurants make it one of the fastest growing foodie hubs in the world.

Previous Rock Oyster titles have been a great success for Cineflix Rights, selling to multiple countries worldwide including Australia, Canada, the US, Netherlands, Sweden, and Poland. Recent deals include Disney’s 24Kitchen channels across the Netherlands, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia; Sweden’s Godare; and AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe (AMCNI CNE) for their TV Paprika channel across Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova.

Catherine McCormick, VP Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights, who brokered the deal said: “Rock Oyster has been a fantastic partner for Cineflix Rights, consistently delivering high quality content which our team has successfully sold around the world. Our funding model includes working with producers to identify and back ideas which we believe will work internationally, and that’s why we had no hesitation in investing in a further 32 hours of content from the Rock Oyster team and extending our relationship to include a development deal.”

David Nottage, MD, Rock Oyster Media added: “As a producer, working in partnership with a distributor to provide the funding to get shows into production is key in an environment where commissioning budgets are severely stretched. This is a win-win deal, with Cineflix Rights supporting us to concentrate on our development and production slates and knowing that their sales team will maximise the returns on our IP.”
