MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights acquires Killer Cases from Law&Crime Productions, pre-sells series to A+E Networks UK & EMEA

June 03, 2020

Cineflix Rights has signed a partnership deal with Live PD Host/Executive Producer Dan Abrams’ Law&Crime Productions and Justice Network to greenlight the new crime series Killer Cases. The distributor has pre-sold the series to A+E Networks Crime + Investigation channels across its EMEA territories including the UK, Africa, Italy, Iberia, Germany Poland, and Africa, where the series will broadcast as Murder Masterminds.

Killer Cases (10×60’, Law&Crime Productions for Justice Network US) weaves together interviews and gripping footage to uncover all the emotion, drama, and suspense of America’s most chilling murder trials. Police officers, forensic experts, witnesses, and some of the defendants themselves tell their stories, before cameras inside the courtroom capture the legal drama as the evidence stacks up and the final verdict is revealed. Every case has its own fascinating backstory where a combination of love, sex, betrayal, and greed ultimately prove fatal. The Emmy® Award-winning team of investigative reporters Brian Ross and Rhonda Schwartz serve as executive producers of the series.

Richard Life, Head of Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Dan’s team and Justice Network to enable the greenlight of Killer Cases. The early pre-sale to Crime + Investigation indicates the strength of such an exciting, high-quality series which will undoubtedly appeal to buyers around the world. Partnering with producers and broadcasters to greenlight new shows is a strategy Cineflix Rights is using more and more as it suits today’s production and commissioning environment.”

Killer Cases will leave viewers on the edge of their seats as they follow the twists and turns of each case until the final verdict,” added Law&Crime Productions founder Dan Abrams. “We are thrilled to partner with Cineflix Rights and Justice Network to produce this show and offer viewers a window inside the courtroom drama.”

The deal to acquire Killer Cases was negotiated by Felicia Litovitz, VP, Acquisitions, North America, and the pre-sale to A+E Networks was brokered by Kelly Hornsby, Head of Acquisitions, UK & International, A+E Networks and Sandra Piha, SVP, Sales, Pan-Regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia, Cineflix Rights.
