Cineflix Rights and Blizzard Road announce three-series acquisition deal at MIPCOM 2017
Cineflix Rights, the UK’s largest independent TV content distributor, has closed a multi-title deal with Australian producer Blizzard Road Productions for three newly greenlit factual series.
Impossible Planet (12×60’, 4K) takes viewers on a journey around the globe to discover just how strange and unaccounted for our world can be. From luminescent, electric-blue waves crashing ashore to mysterious fairy circles as far as the eye can see, the series explores some of Earth’s most incredible natural phenomena.
Killer Soundtrack (13×60’) exposes the truths, myths, and hidden stories behind well known songs which recount the story of a true crime. Using interviews, archive and the music itself, the series explores why so many artists are drawn to the subject matter, and how in some cases the songs themselves have inspired others to commit a crime.
Extreme Animal Transport (13×60’) follows the teams tasked with moving exotic animals around the world. From giraffes to tigers to racehorses, the series tells heartwarming and eye-opening stories of how expert teams go to extraordinary lengths to transfer animals from one location to another.
Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: “I’m pleased to be signing this three-series deal, and to be growing our relationship with Ray and the Blizzard Road team. We’ve already had positive response from buyers about our first series from them – Predator Pets – which we’re launching at MIPCOM 2017. I’m certain these new series will be equally successful with broadcasters worldwide.”
Ray Pedretti, Executive Producer at Blizzard Road Productions added: “Cineflix Rights is the right sized company to ensure our shows get exposure to the maximum number of quality broadcasters globally. The Cineflix Rights team have been friendly, professional and interested in what we do, it is refreshing to work with such good people – which is why we’re very happy to trust them as the best home for this new content we’re producing.”
Kate Laffey, VP, Acquisitions, brokered the deal.
