Cineflix Rights announces ‘e-premiere’ of new Icelandic drama The Minister

Cineflix Rights has announced an innovative, exclusive online premiere for buyers, featuring star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson in conversation with the writer and director of its gripping new Icelandic political drama The Minister.

The Minister (8×60’, Sagafilm for RUV Iceland, DR Denmark, NRK Norway, SVT Sweden, YLE Finland) stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Trapped, True Detective, The Missing) as a populist Prime Minister with a worsening mental health condition threatening the stability of the government and the lives of those around him.

The Minister was originally planned to launch at Series Mania as an International Panorama World Premiere. Cineflix Rights has created an online event open to international buyers that will feature a panel discussion with Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Director Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir (award-winning Cubs), and Writer Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson (Thin Ice), alongside exclusive clips from the series.

Julien Leroux, Executive overseeing the series for Cineflix Rights said: “In lieu of Series Mania, we’ve moved quickly to provide an alternative and innovative opportunity for buyers to see Ólafur, Nanna, and Jónas talk about how they created and produced this gripping series, in an intimate online conversation. Buyers will also be able to see clips from the series including a 15-minute preview of the first episode. As we adapt to the changing circumstances, this is an exciting new way for us to launch what will be one of the most talked about political dramas of the year!”

The e-premiere will take place at 10:30 AM EST / 3:30 PM GMT ON THURSDAY 23 APRIL. Buyers can register for the online event here.
