Cineflix Rights announces new scripted and factual slate for MIPTV 2016

March 24, 2016

Cineflix Rights, the UK’s largest independent TV content distributor, has announced new scripted and factual highlights from its roster of producer partners for MIPTV 2016.

Leading Cineflix Rights’ scripted slate is Marcella (8×60’, Buccaneer Media for ITV UK), an original multi-stranded crime drama written by internationally renowned Hans Rosenfeldt, creator of the global hit The Bridge. Anna Friel (Limitless) stars as Metropolitan Police Detective Marcella Backland, investigating a serial murder case where the modus operandi of the killer bears a striking resemblance to an unsolved spate of killings from a decade before. The series also stars Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey), Sinead Cusack (Jekyll & Hyde), and Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) amongst others.

New factual programming includes:

Hitler the Junkie (1×60’, Waddell Media for Channel 4 UK and National Geographic Channel International) is a hard-hitting special which examines the more than 70 different medications Hitler was taking during the last nine years of his life including morphine, crystal meth, and testosterone and explores if they played a role in his behaviour and actions.

World’s Best Beaches (6×60’, Wildbear Entertainment) is the ultimate guide to the most beautiful beaches on the planet, combining stunning photography with rare archive footage to reveal unique secrets, remarkable wildlife, and once-in-a-lifetime adventures.

Hell’s Satans (8×30’, Standard Arts Inc. for FUSION Network US) follows an infamous moped gang from Virginia as they keep boredom at bay with elaborate pranks, outrageous stunts, and plenty of booze.

Brother Vs. Brother (Season 4, 6×60’, Scott Brothers Entertainment for HGTV US) sees popular Property Brothers hosts Jonathan and Drew Scott pitted against one another as they each mentor a team of home-improvement experts who compete in weekly challenges to raise property values in comparable homes.

Pet Medics: New Zealand (10×30’, Rogue Productions) follows busy vets in a popular practice in New Zealand’s picturesque east coast region as they make home visits, taking boats and planes to local islands to care for a variety of animals in need.

Growing Up McGhee (8×30’, Figure 8 Films for UP Entertainment US) jumps right in with a fun-loving family as they embrace the adventure of raising sextuplets.

Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: “Our strong scripted and factual slate for MIPTV is stacked with globally appealing shows from our valued producer partners. Marcella, created by an exceptionally talented team with a track record of producing international hits, is exactly the type of high quality drama at the top of every scripted buyer’s wish list.
