MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights closes multiple acquisitions deals in advance of MIPTV 2024

April 04, 2024

Cineflix Rights has closed multiple deals with UK, North American, and European producers for high end history content and movies to be launched at MIPTV 2024.

Ramses The Great: King of Ancient Egypt (6×60’, Pernel Media for Planète+ and C8, France)

features cutting-edge science and unique access to the latest archaeological discoveries in a compelling docudrama which exposes the man behind the myth and reveals how—for the past few thousand years —this mighty ruler has remained a caricature of his own propaganda.

Little Sapiens (1×60’, Idéacom International for CBC, Canada) reveals how prehistoric children may have been the very drivers of human evolution. The documentary is a bold investigation that combines 20,000-year-old clues and the latest technology to reveal staggering glimpses into our essential human nature.

Moments That Shook Music: Kurt Cobain (1×60’, Touchdown Films for BBC 2 and BBC iPlayer, UK). Told exclusively through powerful and rare archive footage—some of which has never been seen on TV before, this new immersive documentary, is a visceral account of the days that surrounded that tragic moment when the iconic musician took his own life.

Girl in the Video (1×90’, ITN Productions for Lifetime, US) is a terrifying movie depicting every parent’s worst nightmare—a gripping tale of abduction, survival, and rescue. Set in a sinister world of online criminals, a catfishing kidnapper abducts Krissy, an unsuspecting 15-year-old. Her mother makes an impassioned plea to the media as a seasoned FBI investigator and local detective join forces to bring Krissy home alive.

Crimes of Fashion: Killer Clutch (1×90’, Cineflix Productions, Untitled Entertainment, KMF Film, and the Hungarian Film Incentive for Hallmark Channel, US). American psychologist Lauren Elliott lands a dream job helping a prestigious French fashion house prepare for Paris Fashion Week, but she has no idea it will land her in the middle of a murder investigation.

These latest acquisitions are being launched as part of Cineflix Rights’ MIPTV slate, which also includes new dramas So Long, Marianne and In Memoriam, alongside a host of new factual content and returning seasons of some of the distributor’s popular scripted and unscripted brands.

Richard Life, SVP Acquisitions and Co-Productions, Cineflix Rights said: “Blue-chip ancient history documentaries and popular culture content about contemporary figures are forever in demand from buyers, especially when they explore iconic figures or civilisations which have global appeal. We’re thrilled to be showcasing these new titles at MIPTV alongside compelling and entertaining new dramas as part of our growing movie slate.”
