Cineflix Rights launches MIPCOM 2019 slate

October 01, 2019

Cineflix Rights has unveiled its slate of new and returning content for MIPCOM 2019.

Leading the distributor’s scripted slate is Mirage (Connect3 Media and Lincoln TV in partnership with Wild Bunch Germany, for France Télévisions, ZDF Germany, Bell Media Canada, and Super Channel Canada), starring Marie-Josée Croze and Clive Standen. Claire is starting over in Abu Dhabi with her son Zach and husband Lukas. But her new expat life is overshadowed by intrigue, espionage, and an explosive love triangle after she discovers that her late husband Gabriel is still alive. As past and present collide, Claire embarks on a life-or-death mission that includes blackmail, nuclear sabotage, and deceiving the people she loves the most.

Returning dramas for MIPCOM 2019 include the second season of international hit series Coroner, starring Serinda Swan as a recently widowed, new coroner who investigates suspicious, unnatural or sudden deaths in Toronto (8×60’, Muse Entertainment, Back Alley Films, and Cineflix Studios for CBC Canada and NBC Universal International Networks) and Season 3 of Marcella (8×60’, Buccaneer Media for ITV and Netflix), the dark and complex International Emmy® Award-winning crime thriller from The Bridge creator Hans Rosenfeldt, starring Anna Friel.

Headlining Cineflix Rights’ factual slate is Let’s Talk About Sex (3×60’, Spelthorne Community Television for Channel 4, UK) which presents some of the most outrageous and unintentionally hilarious sex education videos to parents and kids to get an uncensored take on them.

Told from a uniquely female perspective, Extreme Tribe: The Last Pygmies (3×60’, Renegade Pictures for Channel 4, UK) sees filmmaker Livia Simoka spend five months fully immersed in the daily lives of the Mbendjele tribe deep in the jungle of the Republic of the Congo, almost entirely cut off from the outside world.

Inside Cadbury: Chocolate Secrets Unwrapped (1×60’, Whitworth Media Limited for Channel 4, UK) has unprecedented access to one of the sweetest assembly lines in the world, going inside the secretive world of Britain’s biggest, best-loved chocolate maker. Meanwhile, Inside The Pet Food Factory (1×60’, Whitworth Media for Channel 4, UK) follows the workers and animals at one of Britain’s biggest pet food factories as they research, develop, test, and manufacture their latest products.

Egypt’s Lost Pyramid (1×60’, Lion TV and At Land Productions for Channel 4, UK and Smithsonian Channel, US) unearths a never-before-seen archaeological wonder. But when the burial tomb is opened for the first time in 4,000 years, the documentary reveals new mysteries about an unknown princess and an ancient crime.

The President’s Mother (1×60’, Marst-ard Studio for BBC Alba and TG4 Ireland) charts the rags-to-riches journey of Mary Anne MacLeod—Donald Trump’s mother—from an impoverished Scottish fishing village to her privileged place within one of wealthiest and most powerful property development families in New York.
