Cineflix Rights signs exclusive first-look deal with Finestripe Productions Distributor announces multiple sales of The Day We Walked on the Moon
Cineflix Rights has signed a first-look development deal with leading UK indie Finestripe Productions. The partnership gives Cineflix Rights the exclusive option to acquire international distribution rights to Finestripe’s projects for the next two years.
The pact follows a period of successful collaboration between the two companies on the financing and distribution of several blue-chip documentaries including The Day We Walked on the Moon, the upcoming ITV UK and Smithsonian Channel USA special.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, The Day We Walked on the Moon has been licensed by Cineflix Rights to Seven Network (Australia), Medialaan (Belgium), DRTV (Denmark), Mediaset’s Focus channel (Italy), Sky New Zealand, NRK (Norway), Nelonen (Finland), NHK (Japan), TV4 (Sweden), RTVE (Spain), NC+ Poland’s Planete+ channel, Czech TV, AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe (AMCNI CNE) for their Spektrum Channels in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, Mediawan Thematics France for their channel Toute L’Histoire, Manoto (Iran), and Discovery Asia.
Finestripe Productions is a BAFTA and Royal Television Society award-winning Glasgow-based production company, responsible for critically-acclaimed documentaries currently distributed by Cineflix Rights including: Diana: The Day The World Cried (1×60’, ITV and Smithsonian Channel), Inside Dior (2×60’, Channel 4), The Day Kennedy Died (1×60’, ITV and Smithsonian), Whizz Kids: On The Fast Track to F1 (1×60’, Channel 4), and The Day Hitler Died (1×60’, ITV and Smithsonian).
Richard Life, Head of Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights, who concluded the deal said: “I’m thrilled to be expanding our relationship with the incredibly talented team at Finestripe, whose prowess at producing internationally successful, high-quality content is demonstrated through the latest sales of The Day We Walked on the Moon. Broadening and deepening our relationships with producer partners through a range of financing options means we can provide them with the funding and expertise to get their shows greenlit, while at the same time adding outstanding content to the Cineflix Rights catalogue for our global buyers.”
Sue Summers, JointMD of Finestripe Productions added: “We’ve been delighted with the way the Cineflix Rights team has got behind our existing programmes—achieving a high volume of pre-sales enabling us to deliver the vision we had for the documentaries, as well as the overall volume of sales. We’re very pleased to be building on this relationship with an exclusive first-look partnership deal.”
