MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights unveils MIPTV 2021 launch slate

Cineflix Rights has revealed its slate of scripted and factual programming launching at MIPTV 2021.

Procedural crime drama Whitstable Pearl (6X45’, Buccaneer Media for AMC Networks’ Acorn TV) is set in the beautiful English seaside town of Whitstable, home to Pearl Nolan (Kerry Godliman, Derek, After Life), who divides her time between serving up tasty seafood delicacies in her restaurant and solving the crimes, debauchery, and murder regularly brought in by the tide. Alongside Pearl is DCI Mike McGuire (Howard Charles, The Musketeers) as her on-off rival and love interest.

Rebecca (8X60’, Elephant for TF1, France) is a fast-paced thriller, based on the international hit series Marcella. Six years after quitting the Paris police force and abandoning the hunt for a serial killer, Rebecca is back and investigating a spate of brutal murders which soon convince her the killer has resurfaced. Obsessed by the case, betrayed by her husband, and hampered by both depression and crippling blackouts, she throws herself into work to avoid falling apart.

Cineflix Rights will also be showcasing returning seasons of popular dramas for MIPTV including supernatural cult sensation Wynonna Earp, highly rated Coroner,International Emmy®-winning Marcella,and Séries Mania-winning An Ordinary Woman.

On the factual side, Cineflix Rights’ launch encompasses a wide range of content covering everything from historic and scientific triumphs to compelling tales from Hollywood insiders.

Extra Life: A Short History of Living Longer (4X60’, Nutopia for PBS US), from new production partner Nutopia,reveals the little-known stories of the innovations in science and medicine that have doubled the human lifespan in less than a century and celebrates the unsung heroes of public health who believed change was possible and acted on it.  

The Story of Late Night (6X60’, Cream Productions for CNN) takes viewers on a journey through late-night television’s most memorable moments. Featuring some of the funniest people on the planet and packed with behind-the-scenes stories from A-list Hollywood insiders, the series provides the ultimate accounts of a genre that changed the face of television forever.

Other factual highlights include returning seasons of fan favourites such as My Big Family Farm, World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys, Storm Stories: The Next Chapter, Step Up to the Plate, Inside Taronga Zoo, and Homicide: Hours to Kill.
