MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Studios appoints Sonia Hosko as Vice President, Current

Cineflix Studios is bolstering its scripted production team with the hire of Saving Hope and Rookie Blue producer Sonia Hosko as Vice President, Current.

Hosko will oversee production on Cineflix Studios content and work closely with co-production partners. With a focus on the Canadian market, she will source and develop scripted series leveraging her strong relationships with writers, showrunners, and producers. Based in Toronto, Sonia will report to Brett Burlock, SVP.  

The newly created role will support the expansion of Cineflix Studios’ scripted activities, building on successes such as long-running crime procedural series Coroner (CBC/The CW Network/Sky Witness and NBCUniversal International Networks), cult LGBTQ+ phenomenon Wynonna Earp (SYFY/CTV Sci-Fi and NBCUniversal International Networks globally), the second season of hit espionage drama Tehran (Apple TV+/Kan 11), and narco-thriller Pure (WGNA/Hulu/Super Channel), alongside multiple projects in development.  

Hosko served as co-executive producer on the hit series Saving Hope (CTV, Ion) and award-winning drama Rookie Blue (ABC, Global). She was also co-executive producer on The Detail (CTV, Ion) and Burden of Truth (CBC). Hosko was a producer, writer, and director on the anthology of short films Little Films About Big Moments (HBO Canada), and her other credits include working on major feature films such as Sarah Polley’s Away from Her, Brian De Palma’s Redacted, and Atom Egoyan’s Adoration. Hosko is a co-creator of the Lexa Pledge, which promotes writing positive LGBTQ+ storylines.
