MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights acquires global distribution rights to new drama series Good Morning Chuck

December 01, 2022

Cineflix Rights has acquired global distribution rights to Bon matin Chuck (ou l’art de réduire les méfaits) (Good Morning Chuck), the new French-language scripted series from the multi-award-winning co-director of C’est comme ça que je t’aime (Happily Married) co-produced by St-Laurent TV and Connect3 Media for Crave (Canada).

Good Morning Chuck (10×60’, St-Laurent TV and Connect3 Media for Crave, Canada) is a dramatic comedy series about Chuck, the beloved host of the morning show Bon matin, un café?, who finds himself on the front page of all the newspapers and gossip magazines after a scandal involving his drug and alcohol addiction erupts. All of Quebec is in shock, but for those close to him, this is the final straw. With his reputation on the line, Chuck heads to rehab in order to convince his spouse, his agent, and the public of his (relative) goodwill. The problem: Chuck doesn’t really think he needs help… he tells anyone who will listen that he’s just a party guy!

Good Morning Chuck is co-directed and co-written by Jean-François Rivard (Happily Married), Sarianne Cormier (Les Vestiges), and Patrick Dupuis (Punch Club ). It stars Nicolas Pinson (Les Invincibles) as Chuck alongside Chantal Fontaine (Happily Married), Sylvain Marcel (19-2), Bernard Fortin (Providence), Benz Antoine (The Expanse and V-Wars), Kevin Owens (WWE Superstar) and Marilyn Castonguay (Happily Married). The series is produced for Bell Media by Lou Bélanger, Marieme Ndiaye, and Rafael Perez for St-Laurent TV along with André Barro and Pablo Salzman for Connect3 Media.

Richard Life, Head of Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights said: “We’re thrilled to be working again with Jean-François, who is a master at creating dark comedies with broad international appeal. Happily Married has been a great success for us, and we’re looking forward to taking Good Morning Chuck out to our buyers.”

Happily Married (C’est comme ça que je t’aime), co-directed by Jean-François Rivard, was an Official Selection at Berlinale Series 2020, won the Rogers Prize for Excellence in Canadian Content at the 2021 Rockie Awards, and took home 10 awards at the Prix Gémeaux 2020. The series, now in its production for a second season, has sold to broadcasters and streamers internationally, including Salto (France), ProSieben (Germany), Filmin (Spain), and Hot (Israel).
