MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights announces multiple sales for Reginald the Vampire
Cineflix Rights has announced multiple international sales for the first season of supernatural drama Reginald the Vampire, which premieres in the US on SYFY this October.
The series has been acquired by Sky for the UK, and Ireland, NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-To-Consumer for its science fiction channels SYFY in France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Switzerland; and SCIFI in Poland and the Balkans, and AMC Networks International for Latin America.
Starring Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Reginald the Vampire turns traditional vampire tropes on their head while draining the blood from modern-day beauty standards. Reginald (Batalon) is the unlikely hero who crashes headlong into a world populated by beautiful, fit, and vain vampires while navigating numerous obstacles in his new undead life: the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bullying manager at work, and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead. Fortunately, Reginald discovers he has a few unrecognized powers of his own. Inspired by Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire novels, the series also stars Mandela Van Peebles (Mayor of Kingstown) and Em Haine (Fargo).
Reginald the Vampire (10×60’) is produced by Great Pacific Media, Modern Story, December Films, and Cineflix Studios for SYFY in the US. The series showrunner is Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Chucky). Modern Story partner Jeremiah Chechik (Shadowhunters, Diabolique) is lead director and serves as an Executive Producer alongside Peyton, Todd Berger (Wynonna Earp), and Great Pacific Media’s Lindsay Macadam, David Way, Matthew Berkowitz, and Jennifer Twiner McCarron. Brett Burlock and Peter Emerson are Executive Producers for Cineflix Studios (Tehran, Coroner). Season One directors include David Frazee, Lee Rose, and Siobhan Devine. Jacob Batalon is a Co-Executive Producer, along with Julie Di Cresce.
James Durie, Head of Scripted, Cineflix Rights said: “We’ve had a lot of interest from buyers in Reginald the Vampire since its launch at MIPTV, so I’m really pleased to announce these first international sales in advance of its launch on SYFY. The series really delivers on its promise to provide viewers with a wild ride and lots of laughs as it cleverly plays with existing vampire clichés. With more deals in the pipeline, I’m sure it will be a great success.”
The deal with Sky was negotiated by Sandra Piha, SVP, Sales, Pan-Regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia; the deal with NBC Universal Networks International for German speaking Europe was brokered by Lucinda Gergley-Garner, SVP, Sales, North America and German Speaking Territories; and the deals with NBC Universal Networks International for French-speaking Europe and Iberia and AMC Networks were brokered by Sabrina Ayala, SVP, Sales, France, Italy, Iberia, and Latin America.
