MEDIA RELEASE: Cineflix Rights boosts Latin America and Hispanic US sales team

January 23, 2023

Cineflix Rights has boosted its global sales team with the addition of Daniel Rodriguez as Sales Consultant, Latin America and Hispanic US. Miami-based Rodriguez is the distributor’s first dedicated sales rep covering the region, with Barcelona-based Sabrina Ayala now focusing her work on European buyers across French-speaking Europe, Italy, and Iberia.

Rodriguez will be at Content Americas this week launching Cineflix Rights’ slate of new shows to buyers in the region, headed up by Last King of The Cross (10×60’, HELIUM Pictures for Paramount+ Australia), starring Tim Roth and Lincoln Younes. Inspired by true events, the series charts the rise of a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, no money, and no prospects to Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul and is set in Sydney’s decadent, iconic Kings Cross district in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Cineflix Rights’ scripted slate for Content Americas also includes Season 2 of Irvine Welsh’s Crime (12x 60’, Buccaneer and Off Grid Film & TV for ITVX/BritBox, UK), starring Dougray Scott who won the 2022 International Emmy® Award for Best Performance by an Actor for his lead role in the series. Sugar (1×90’, Connect3 Media and Sepia Films for Prime Video, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and ZDF, Germany) a feature thriller inspired by the dramatic real-life story of the ‘Cocaine Cowgirls’; and Jodi Arias: Bad Behind Bars (1×90’, Cineflix Productions for Lifetime, US) a psychological thriller about a couple whose lives are nearly destroyed by the ultimate femme fatale.

The distributor’s slate of new factual shows includes innovative natural history series Patrick Aryee’s Wild World (4×60’, Cineflix Productions and Curve Media for Sky Nature, UK), Holiday Homes in the Sun (80×60’, Raise the Roof Productions and Motion Content Group for Channel 5, UK), Cult Justice (8×60’, Law&Crime Productions in association with True Crime Network, US), O.J. Simpson: Blood, Lies & Murder (2×60’, Buck Productions in association with Connect3 Media for REELZ, US), History of the Sitcom (8×60’, Cream Productions for CNN Original Series, US), and Close Encounters Down Under (6×60’, Perpetual Entertainment for 7Mate, Australia, TVNZ, New Zealand, and AETN, UK, Ireland, Poland, and Romania).

Tim Mutimer, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: “Latin America has been a great growth area for Cineflix Rights over the past few years, particularly with pan-regional networks and new streamers alongside national broadcasters as well as new AVOD and SVOD platforms. Adding Daniel as a Miami-based sales consultant solely focused on the region will boost our Latin American and Hispanic US business, and Sabrina’s move to a dedicated role based in Barcelona will enhance our European activities.”

Daniel Rodriguez added: “It’s great to be working again with Cineflix Rights to continue bringing its impressive catalogue of fiction, factual, and documentaries to Latin America and the US Hispanic market.  Sabrina has made Cineflix Rights a huge name in the region, so I have big shoes to fill and look forward to building on the success of her work.”
